Longtime Friend Thinking of You

Good Morning! Today I have another image from the retired SU! set Longtime Friend.  I used various coloured markers to colour in the image and cut it out with the oval and scalloped oval dies. The white cardstock was embossed with the Lattice embossing folder, the Thinking of You is from this year's SAB catalogue and the dsp is from a retired Hostess Level 1 paper pack.  The ribbon is from my stash, not sure where that came from!! Sometimes I think I have the same problem accumulating ribbon as I do designer paper.... :)

Hope you have a great day and Happy Friday! Its the end of the week!!

Butterfly Thinking of You...

Hello there, Happy Monday!

Monday is good, the kids are off to school and the house is relatively quiet. My DH has this week off and we are going to be cleaning and prepping the walls for painting.  ugh, don't know if that will be fun, rewarding or just plain old alot of work!!

On to the fun stuff, stamping!!  I'm not going to make any more cards right now with the Razzleberry Lemonade, so please don't fret!! this will be my last one for awhile.  I still have some dsp left, but I will find another to inspire me.

This card uses Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and the Razzleberry Lemondade dsp.  The lace and bling are from my stash, paper flower from the Pretties Kit,  the dies are Spellbinders, and the stamp set  Sincere Saluations is the very first one I bought when I hosted my first SU! workshop.  It was half price, if you can imagine, and I didn't realize at the time just how "valuable" I would find word sentiments.

Thank you so much for dropping by and enjoy your week. Hopefully I'll be able to post a bit more this week, but with DH home I may not get as much stamping time in as I hope. :)

Have a great day!
Deb :)

Bright Warm Card on a Very Cold Day!!

Good Afternoon! Its been such a snowy week here in Alberta, the winter weather just doesn't seem to want to settle down.  We've lived in our house for 8 years now and I don't ever recall this much snow here.  Our balcony is piled high with snow and the cast iron urns with their little evergreen trees in them look like Marge Simpson's hair!! Makes me smile everytime I look out there.

So, I have a few crafting resolutions for the New Year, how about you? I mentioned in a previous post I would like to make time for more crafting with my friends, I truly enjoy their company, we all share a love of crafting and don't seem to find the time to get together as often as we should.  :)

Another important resolution regards my personal craft space. I do think I'm a bit of a magazine junkie, I seem to have collected them for a couple of years now and have *ahem* quite a few.....So, the last few days I've been going through every single magazine I own, and putting post-it notes on the pages of inspriation.  I also have a pile for non inspirational ones (as our tastes do change!!) along with old stamp sets and some dsp I just don't think inspires me any longer. I'll sell those in our craft sale this spring.  Back to the resolution, I would like to take a magazine a day and create one of the inspirational pieces from it.  This will be a great way to replentish my card stash.  So, I'm excited about this New Year and my crafting resolutions!!

On to the card!! Isn't this the neatest card?? I loved the design when I saw it and had to try it. All the dsp was still sitting on my table, so I quickly cut one inch wide pieces and adhered them across the card at an angle. The ribbon covers up the uneveness, so don't stress over that. Cute hey? Would be a great way to make some mass Christmas cards I was thinking, sitting and glueing these strips of paper while watching tv with my DH some nights.

This dsp is the Razzleberry Lemonade (retired), along with Razzleberry and Melon Mambo cardstock, Crushed Curry grosgrain (I really loved this colour!!), bling on the bottom from my stash,  the Island Floral big die, scalloped circle and a bright yellow brad in the middle.

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to read my ramblings, I truly enjoy the comments and emails from you :)

Have a great Saturday and stay warm!!

SCS Challenge ~ A little late!!

Hi there Blogger Friends! I've got a SCS Challenge for you today! Its a little behind the times, from March 25, SC221. I just love this sketch, it gives you so many options for use of your designer paper. This card uses the retired designer series Flowers For You, along with Regal Rose, Lavender Lace and Tempting Turquoise. The Stamp set is ~ of course ~ Petal Pizazz, one you'll see me using alot of as its bold, pretty and so very easy to cut out! And best of all, it is super easy to create with, each petal layers perfectly with the next. The sentiment if from Serene Spring, last season's Hostess selection. The brads are Filigree Brads & our small silver brads.
Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great day!!!

Thoughts of You!

Good Morning Blogger Friends! Today I have another card that was created at our Dar's Team meeting. It uses the Thoughts & Prayers Stamp set. This is such a versatile set, I would really recommend it. We've also made use of the Parisian Specialty Designer paper, remember its doubled sided & textured. Ah, pure joy!! I am such a Designer Paper Junkie! Gotta have it all. I do use it though, and have gotten over hoarding it. :-)
This card also uses Kraft & Chocolate Chip cardstock and the Eyelet border punch , another must have in my books. They really add to the card. Throw a punched circle on there with a brad on it and you have a quick & easy card that's just waiting for a sentiment. Over the last few years I've found its great to have a few cards in my stash that have no sentiment on them, so easy to pick the right words, stamp and the card is ready to mail.
Hope you have a great day!

Friends 24-7!!

Hi there Blogger Friends! Thankfully its sunny & warm today, such a difference from yesterday. We certainly had alot of snow yesterday, its amazing how 24 hours can change the weather so dramatically! :-)
This upload is a cute card that we recently completed at our Dar's Team meeting. Although I wasn't able to attend, my wondeful cousin actually made some of the samples up for me and brought them over!! Thanks Karen, I really didn't expect that!
This creation uses the newest cardstock Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper, as well as Kraft & Baja Breeze. The specialty paper is a doublesided designer paper with texture! Absolutely gorgeous. For you designer paper junkies, its a must have! :-) This card also uses the stamp set Friends 24-7. This has been on my wish list since the first day I saw the catalogue. I really love this little bird. And he's a friendly bird too Heidi!! :-) As well, check out the designer hardware in vanilla, isn't it striking? Both the silver & vanilla hardware are so modern and clean looking.
Hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Hi there Blogger Friends! I squeezed in some time yesterday to participate in the Colour & Sketch Challenges on SCS. These colours are great together; however, I would have preferred a colour challenge with more spring like colours. These are perfect for a male birthday or Autumn card though.
This card was quick and easy, making full use of : designer paper, embossing folder & white daisy flowers. I found the center of this flower in my "stash" and thought it matched the Summer Sun cardstock very well.
Recipe:
Stamp Set: True Friend
Ink: Black StazOn
Cardstock: Kraft, Black, Summer Sun and Red Riding hood (designer paper Bella Rose)
Embellishments: Slit punch (for ribbon), Corner Ticket Punch, Black Polka Dotted Ribbon and Flower centre from my stash of collectibles!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Seaside Happiness

Hi there! I know its been quite some time since I last posted. I have the same excuses as everyone else ~ life just gets so busy sometimes!! I've had alot of my plate lately, paperwork wise and its finally winding down! As well, I completely decluttered our home! What a job that has been, let me tell you. We went to the dump *several* times as well as Good Will. Marvelous feeling!! If you ever get a chance, please go straight to your nearest bookstore and purchase "Clearing Your Clutter" by Karen Kingstone. Its a very inspirational book!! You might be surprised to find yourself clearing out your home as well. :-)
For those of you who know me, I really enjoy watercolouring and putzing around with cards. The more involved the colouring the more I enjoy it. Especially when I have to create layers. I guess that's why I have such a hard time with quick and easy cards, they just don't seem challenging enough. Now that being said, I'm certainly no great artist at putting together a card either. As you can see from the card above I've left the design open rather than fill it up with scallops and ribbons. It just didn't seem right to add all that in. I have left the bottom left side open for my sentiment. I will most likely stamp a verse or sentiment and punch out with the small oval punch and mat it with the large oval punch. Its nice to have cards just waiting for any occasion sometimes! I also have to apologize for the quality of the picture! My memory card has 2 pictures left on it. As well, the card is a bit heavy right now because I haven't added my layers inside yet. Watercolour paper usually adds weight to a card so be sure to secure it with double sided tape instead of rolling adhesive. I learned that the hard way! :-) With a card like this I like to add a layer to the middle of the card, with perhaps some coordinating cardstock, a layer of designer paper and then a piece of white to write my sentiment. This helps balance the card's weight too.
We are off to Provincials this weekend so I won't be posting for a few days! Surprise surprise!! I hope you all are well and I'll be in touch next week regarding your SAB orders! :-)
Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Cute & Quick!

Hi There! I wanted to post this cute & quick card I did for a swap a few weeks ago. I try to make my swaps "demo-able" for the Su! demos who will receive them. This particular card would be easy to mass produce, as the flower is super easy to cut out. I don't think you can see it, but the main flower image has dazzling diamonds in the centre of it, very pretty in real life.
Hope all is well, and stay tuned, I'll have some more cards to post in the next few days. :-)

True Friend

Good Morning Everyone! I recreated this card last night from some of my old stash of goodies. Some of my customers will remember it from a workshop we did last Autumn. I've used up almost all of this designer paper, it was most definitely one of my favourites. Being able to punch out the medallion and use it as a focal point on your card makes things super easy! The only stamping on this is the sentiement. :-) I'll still continue to post cards created with supplies from our past life (oh, sorry, from the last catalogue!) as I know many of you have ribbon and designer papers, cardstock etc. that includes In Colours of past, so we might as well embrace the old and the new and use it all! A great challenge would be to find an Old In Colour and combine it with one New In Colour for a card creation. What do you think? Give it a try. :-)
Recipe:
Stamp Set: True Friend
Cardstock: Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla, Really Rust
Accessories: River Rock Grosgrain, circle punch, scalloped punch
Have a great day!

Beautiful Things....

Hi there Blogger Friends! Hope all is well with you. I went shopping today with Beth from BigSkyCreations (see link at the right, wonderful blog!!). We found these gorgeous flowers and I just knew they were exactly what I was looking for to complete this card. I had bought this sentiment on holidays some time ago, and really like the saying, as well as the font. The paper is part of the Stella Ruby collection, an old Basic Grey designer paper. The cardstock is SU, Ruby Red and Chocolate chip,
Very Vanilla & So Saffron. I guess its a hodgepodge of stuff, isn't it?? :-)

Hope you had a good day, I know I sure did! A great outing, wonderful company, and a Starbucks Vanilla Latte (Lowfat), wow, it just doesn't get any better! :-)

Inspired by Julie Hrr

Hi there Blogger Friends! I just love Julie Hrr's style of creating. She was one of the first stampers who's work I admired when I began the stamping 3 years ago. Julie likes clean, simple lines, not too much fuss around the image. I thought I would give this image a try, using my SU! Markers and lumiere, mixed to create sparkly, almost pearlescent coverage. I used a larger than normal card base, and left alot of "white space" around the matted image. I really enjoy trying new stamping styles, and although I've created this style before, it feels good to go back to it. With all the doo-dabs out there like Nestabilities and such, its nice to create with just stamps, paper and ink! Have a great evening!

Cherish

Good Morning! TGIF!! Its been a very long week, and I'm so happy the weekend is coming up. I have a meeting at my upline's tomorrow, can't wait to see all the new goodies she's got and hear about convention! And I hope to have some new swaps to bring home too... Just kind of have to get busy on those! I've somehow managed to take on more jobs within my daughter's sports club. Apparently I have alot of spare time, or so they think!! Some people do waay too much so I'm happy to lend them a hand. :-) It does cut into the stamping time though...
I've created a card using the new Bella Rosa designer paper (again, you say?! yes, again. Loooove this paper). Was a quick and easy card, I got the inspriation from the latest PaperCrafts magazine.
Recipe:
Stamp Set: Touch of Nature, Baroque Motifs
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Bella Rosa, Very Vanilla
Ink: Brown
Have a great weekend, and try to fit some stamping in, you know who you are!! :-)

Modern Bella Rosa

Happy Monday!! Hope you are enjoying your holiday. The weather here is wonderful, we got alot of yard work done, and groomed the Schnauzer as well. He wasn't the happiest pup in the world, I think he feels grooming is punishment!

My friend Brenda has 3 Standard Schnauzers, one of whom is ready to give birth any day! I am sooo very excited, I can hardly wait to see them. If our yard was better set up for dog, I'd be in line waiting to take home a puppy. Standard Schnauzers can jump a 5 foot high fence with one swoop, they don't even need a run at it! So where we live just doesn't work. Too bad, he'd love a friend. Anyway, on to the card! :-)

This Bella Rosa paper is amazing, I've found I can go from an Autumn card, to a traditional card, a masculine card, to a modern card in a snap. Its one of the most versatile designer series papers I've used, I just love it. If you can only afford to go with one Designer Paper this order, be sure to pick up some Bella Rosa, its perfect for everything!

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Time Well Spent

Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Bella Rosa

Ink: Brown StazOn, P. Pirouette,

Accessories: Circle Punches, Paper Piercer, Brown marker, SU! Rub Ons

Enjoy your evening!

SCS Sunday Challenge

Hi again, one more creation before the night is done! I have to take the dog out, he's just a whining, but I really wanted to get this finished!! Such a quick and easy card, I just love how elegant it turned out!! No stamps! The only ink I used was to colour the Pretties Kit flower. That's it!! And the sentiment is a Rub On from the 2008 SAB goodies! The designer paper is Ginger Blossom, now retired, but this card could be created with any colour combination. Thanks for looking, and have a great evening. Off to walk the poor dog....! I think he really dislikes my stamp room, it means I disappear for awhile! :-)

Kindness

Just one more before I go! I made this cute little card up quite quickly. I just love the Pretties Kit!! You can colour the flowers to match your projects, having a perfect addition to your card in an instant. I also was so happy to see the Jumbo Brads back in the catalogue, I couldn't live without these, they're so versatile!

Friendship Cards

Good Morning Everyone! Its kind of gloomy out there today, I guess it goes with the time of year! I'm not quite ready for summer to end yet, though! How about you?

I got a chance to play in my stamp room last night, and came up with this little card. I just love this stamp set, its an SU! Level Two Hostess set and has two beautiful images as well as 2 great word stamps.
Recipe:
Stamp Set: Serene Spring
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Bella Rose (yes, again!)
Ink: Brown StazOn, and various pencils to compliment designer paper
Accessories: Oval punch, Jumbo eyelets, twill tape, scallop punch, ticket corner punch.

Have a great day!
