Vintage Artfully Asian

Hi there! I finally received my Asian Artistry stamp set!! I had ordered the Spanish version by mistake and had to send it back, one of those moments I guess!! (Edited to Add here: See, I didn't get the name right on my blog, no wonder I ordered the wrong Stamp Set!! The correct name of this stamp set is: Artfully Asian!!!) :-)

I really love this set and couldn't wait to create with it. When I sat down, I certainly didn't plan on a vintage feel, I was thinking along the lines of a card with more Asian flair, and somehow ended up with this! Funny how we think one thing and do another!!

I used the Bella Birds dsp (retired), along with Bordering Blue & So Saffron cardstock. The image was stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured using my markers and aqua painter & paintbrush. I went over the whole image (when dry) with a Sakuro Jelly Roll pen in clear, to give it a bit of a sheen, something I don't think you can see in the photo. I also used a border punch that I got at Michael's. Again, these punches aren't quite as nice to use as SU's punches, but I really loved this look.

Originally, I had placed Vanilla Grosgrain along the bottom, but it just didn't look right, so off it came (after the card was completed, of course! lol) and I added the fabric lace trim. I've put some Fray Check on the sides so it won't unravel. The half back pearls, well I know, I got a little carried away with them, but I like the look. :-)

Manhattan Embossed Flower 2

Hi there! I'm still enjoying this technique and wanted to share the 2nd flower that I created. I still need to "leave it alone" after I've dabbed my reinkers on there, but I don't and end up with a flower that doesn't quite have the variation of colour I've been looking for. I guess that means I'll just have to try my hand at a few more!!
This card used Whisper White, Gable Green, Pink Pirouette Cardstock. Kind of an odd colour combination, but somehow I felt it worked!! :-)

I stamped the sentiment with StazOn black and inked the edges of the white scalloped circle with Pink Pirouette and then Pixie Pink, just to give it some definition. The rose is done using Patty Bennett's watercolour technique, see her link on the side bar. The Ribbon and Bling are from my stash, I'm not sure of the make or brand, sorry! :-) The Little Leaves & Top Note die were cut using the Big Shot, something I really seem to be enjoying more and more every day. The Embossing Folder used was Swiss Dot.

Another Sympathy Card for the stash

Hi there! I've got one more Sympathy card for my stash. This one uses the Parisienne Summer dsp, along with Upsy Daisy as the main image. I really love using the Martha Stewart border punch, its really feminine and so pretty. Accessories include Grey Taffeta, Pink Pirouette Grosgrain ribbon, and a brad from stash.

I put this photo through the rigours of my Adobe Photoshop, which, I'm sure you can tell by the photo, isn't something I'm really a pro at yet! lol :-) In this picture, my Basic Grey is leaning more towards black, wouldn't you say? And, I think I saved it already and can't get the original back!! Soooo, just imagine it a little more grey than charcoal/black!! :-)

I have not been impressed with my camera lately, I don't know why its not taking really good, crisp pictures. Hmmm, I did lend it to my son to take to Cuba, I wonder if he accidentally dropped it or something?? *sigh* I don't even want to think about that....!! :-)

More Kind & Caring Thoughts....

Good Morning! I've got a Thinking of You card to share today using the new Level 2 Hostess set. The set is called Kind & Caring Thoughts and is a Sneak Preview from the upcoming SU! catalogue, making its debut on July 1st.

This layout is cased from Cardmaker Magazine, May 2008, Page 59. Its a fairly generic layout, but one I think I'll use over and over, as its quick & easy, and I think, really pretty!!

I've also dug into my Walk in the Park Designer Paper, from the SU! Occasions mini. I really didn't care for this paper at first, but the more I saw of it, well you know how it goes...!!! I really like this paper now, its just gorgeous, especially the Basic Grey and Cameo Coral together.

Beautiful Things....

Good Afternoon! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!! Today my card share is an image I collected while on my travels in BC, I believe, last summer.

I started this card a few months ago, if you can imagine!! It sat in a pile of "ufo's", as my friend Beth calls them ~ Unfinished Objects ~ !! I had the main image stamped and matted it onto the Old Olive, but the card just lacked something for me, so I set it aside.

Today while cleaning the stamp studio I looked at it and decided it needed some Dazzling Diamonds, a couple of flowers with brads and more matting. I matted it onto the Bashful Blue Designer Paper, then the black, and then onto a larger card, giving it the "frame" that I felt it needed to really show off the image.

Its a fairly clean lined card, yet does use some embellishments. The trend is for clean lined, quick & easy cards, but I still struggle with this concept, always wanting to add a ribbon, bow, brad or eyelet to my creation. Somehow at least one of those embellies manage to find their way onto my cards!!

I hope you like this card, I loved the colour combination, as its so calm and pretty, yet bold and striking all in one.
