Poinsettias in May!



Hi there and Happy Thursday!! I've been a day ahead of myself this week, woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, hoping tomorrow was sleep in day....I guess I'll have to wait one more day!!

We have beautiful weather still, the sun is shining and its warm, although still pretty windy out there. I might just head to the garden center today and see what I can find to put in the large urn pot at my front door.

Well, today's card share is another that Melody and I made during our stamping day. Melody brought this card to CASE, she found the original on SplitcoastStampers.  Isn't it pretty? It was a thank you card but we decided to change up the background by embossing it with the petals folder (which really mimicked the poinsettia flowers nicely!) and we added a Christmas sentiment. I don't even remember what stamp set the flowers are, you'll have to remind me Mel!

We embossed the flowers onto red cardstock, cut out and layered 2 for each flower.  We secured them with a large silver brad.  It was a pretty simple card to do, yet very striking, I really loved the Black, White and Red combination.

Christmas Cards in March! :)

Hi there! Today is such a beautiful day outside, its completely uplifting to be out there and basking in the sunshine, even if everything is melting and mucky. We've been walking the pups on a regular basis but now that its warmer we can go further each night ~ and the best part is that its light outside when we go! Funny how the weather can really affect our spirits, isn't it?

Ha, and after all that talk about beautiful Spring weather I have a Christmas card to share with you, ah the irony of it, hey?? :)  This card uses Home For Christmas, one of my favourite SU! Christmas stamp sets.  The cardstock is Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and of course, you know me, an unknown piece of leftover retired designer paper that was just begging to be used up.

Clean & Simple Polar Bears

Good Morning to you!! 

Today I have the sweetest little polar bears in the world to share with you.  Paired with the Tulip embossing folder from SU!, and Baja Breeze & Pretty In Pink cardstocks, I have a very "mailable" Christmas card!! After having to put double postage on just about all my Christmas cards last year, I have to admit I'm considering doing  simpler Christmas designs this year with less embellies on them. But then again, I do love my brads, ribbons, bows and pearls, it may be hard to accomplish clean and simple and be happy with the outcome!! I have a hard time just leaving a card alone, I always want to add just a little more...!

I also used Dazzling Diamonds and Snow on the tips of the trees and hills, cut the image out with a nestie and sponged the edges with Baja Breeze ink.  The holly in the image does have little red berries, but the Dazzling Diamonds are sort of covering them up, I will have to be careful next time not to put the glitter on there!!

Merry Moments Collection (last two!)

Good Morning! Today I have the last two of the Christmas cards I created using the Merry Moments designer paper, soon to be retired!! I used pieces and scraps that were on my desk to create all of the cards, using some of the pieces "as is", just a trim here and there to fit on the card.

Merry Moments continued!!

Hi there! Today I have a few more Christmas cards created with the Merrry Moments dsp. I still have a few more small pieces of this designer paper left, but not much. It was fun to sit down with the goal of making as many Christmas cards as I could with what was on hand.  The bonus to all of this is not only did I use my paper up (so now I can buy more!!) but I am getting a head start on my Christmas/Holiday cards!! So, come December first I (hopefully) won't be stressing about getting my cards finished, (hopefully) they will be stamped and ready to send.....right?? (hopefully....!)
The details for these are pretty similar to the last post, although here I've incorporated metal tags, as well as a snowflake border and snowflake punch.

Using up that Designer Paper cause I need more!!

Good Morning! Yesterday morning I went into my stamp room to clean it up, what a mess it was!!  As usual, I was putting away a few pieces of dsp and thought, you know if I want to buy more of this stuff I really have to start using up what I own.....so, my cleaning session quickly became a card making session!!!   I loved this dsp when I first saw it in the catalogue but wasn't that inspired with it once I received it. I just didn't like the vanilla and red designs, I tend to gravitate more to red and crisp white.  However, after working with the green palette in this collection, I decided I really liked it!!  Garden Green, Old Olive and Vanilla are really quite beautiful together. I loved the grey ribbon touch on the card above, that was my DD's idea and I have to say I really like the greens with the grey and vanilla, subtle and so pretty.

Another Christmas Card for my stash

Hi there! Today's share is one of the last Christmas cards I've completed for the season. I used the Holiday Lounge Designer paper along with Sahara Sand, Whisper White & Ruby Red cardstocks. The sentiment is from SU!, Heard from the Heart and was stamped with Ruby Red ink. I embellished this card with two half back pearls & the SU! eyelet border punch. As well, I used last years' Red Ridinghood satin ribbon, which really works well with Ruby Red. This was quite a quick and easy card, and perfect for mailing, as I think the pearls are small enough.....:-)

'Tis the Season!

Hi there! Today's share is pretty glittery!! I've used the about to be Retired Branch Out stamp set along with the snowman from SnowBuddies. Isn't he darling??? I wanted that snowman the minute I saw him. Snowmen are "my thing", I'd collect several dozen every Christmas if I could but this year I've refrained and not bought any......*sigh*. Maybe still..... Also, you will notice that I didn't use ANY designer paper on this card!! Unusual for me, that's for sure!!

I was totally inspired to CASE this marvelous card trio from Sandy MacIver found here. Isn't her's fabulous?! I really love her blog, please be sure to check it out, I'm sure you'll be as inspired as I have been! :-)

This card features Brilliant Blue cardstock, a colour I just don't use enough, along with Ballet Blue & Whisper White. Mr. Snowman was stamped with black, his accessories coloured in Green Galore & Tempting Turqoise, and the tree from Brach out was stamped in Brillian Blue. The background was sponged with Brillian Blue, Brodade Blue, Ballet Blue and Regal Rose. I always love to add the pinky/rose element to my background skies, its so realistic as to what we see here in Alberta :-) The Winter skies are my favourite.

Christmas Card from my Upline!

Hi there! I know its been forever since I've last posted!! And thank you to all who've emailed me to say hello and encouraged me to post soon! :-)

Its been a very busy month and I've finally found the time to post a card, although this isn't my creation, but the beautiful Christmas card my Upline gave me yesterday. I absolutely love this card! Thanks Karen!!! :-)

Love the simplicity of it, the beautiful combination of White & Gold and the gorgeous embossed Serene Snowflakes and Reindeer Dancer, both sets that emboss beautifully.

Holiday Embossing

Good Evening! I've been trying to keep up with creating all my Christmas Cards, I think I'm almost there!! Today's post features embossing and punching, quick and easy!!

The base is Soft Suede combined with Real Red. The Very Vanilla was embossed and "coloured" with the 2 Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds. The ornament from Delightful Decorations was stamped in Soft Suede and punched with the ornament punch. I also "coloured" the design on the ornament with the 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds. The red bling is from my stash, the red gingham ribbon from SU!.

Reindeer Games!

Hi there! Today's card features the cute little Dasher Stamp from SU! I think this reindeer is so darned cute and super easy to create with.

This card is made with Ivory Naturals cardstock, Garden Green, Real Red and Merry Moments Designer paper, all SU!. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched out with the Word Window Punch. I also used Real Red 5/8 inch grosgrain across the middle of the card and tied a "bow" with a button in the middle. Be sure to click on the picture to make it larger, gives you a better idea of what the bow looks like. :-)

More Sparkly Snowflakes!

Hi there! Today's share is another sparkly snowflake, cut from a large sheet of sparkly foam found at one of the local discount stores. Isn't it pretty???

This card features the large Snowflake Die from SU! (Sizzix), White card base, Sahara Sand, a retired Bashful Blue designer paper from last season, Silver SU! cardstock, Silver organza ribbon, a Filigree brad with a sparkly blue gem brad in the centre. The greeting is from a long time retired SU! set.

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!!!

Hi there! Today's post showcases a cute little snowman and his hedgie friend. I love these images and while I have very few, I enjoy working with them once in awhile. This card is made with Very Vanilla, Real Red, Garden Green and a plaid designer paper from my stash. I also used the Photo Corner Punch and the Dotted Red Grosgrain ribbon from SU!. The snowman was "coloured" with Bashful Blue; I then spread glue over his body with the 2 way glue pen and sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds. The snow is a combo of Dazzling Diamonds and chunky glitter. The snowman and hedgie are colored with Real Red, Garden Green, Soft Suede and Blush, sentiment was inked in red. I also paper pierced along the bottom of the red, although its quite hard to see in this photo.

Christmas Cardinal

Hi there! I've had a super busy week starting my Christmas gifts. I finished quilting and sewing a lovely market bag for my MIL, I sure hope she likes it. I've only ever quilted once before so I quite enjoyed the process. Not sure if I'm ready for a full quilt yet though!! If you want to have a look, my other blog is posted on the side bar. :-)

This card features my dusty Cardinal Christmas set!! I haven't used this bird much at all since purchasing it last year, which is a shame. Its the most beautiful image and perfect for either an elegant or a folksy type of Christmas card. The card base is a piece of gorgeous Soft Suede Textured paper (5 1/4 x 5 1/4), Very Vanilla, Merry Moments Designer paper, Real Red & Olive Green Cardstocks. I stamped the Cardinal in Soft Suede and added a few tiny dots of glitter to the berries. I embossed the vanilla with a snowflake embossing folder, matting it on Real Red. The flower is two 5 petal punch flowers, layered together, and the sentiment is from Only Ornaments (Holiday Mini), punched out with the 3/4 inch circle punch. I finished the card off with a couple of red bling in the corner.

Cheery Reindeer Christmas

Hi there! Today's card share uses the stamp sets Dasher and Holiday Collection(retired) along with the Merry Moments designer paper. Dasher can be found at the back of the SU! catalogue, he is a single stamp and (I think) a great buy!

The image was stamped on Very Vanilla and die cut with the Big Shot, then matted on Real Red and Chocolate chip cardstocks. The Holiday Wishes was stamped in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and embossed with clear. The best part of the whole card is the cheery bright 3/4 inch Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain from SU!, I just love this ribbon ~ it so says "Happy Holidays" don't you think? :-) The base of the card is Vanilla, matted with Chocolate Chip. The Real Red border at the top was punched with the Martha Stewart punch. All in all, this card was quite quick and easy, it would be easy to mass produce once all your components were cut.

We've got a busy day planned today as we are getting the yard ready for the next season, I just don't want to breathe that "W" word right now as the "S" word has been in the forecast!! :-) So, I guess its time to get the trees watered in and one last grass cutting, along with some Fall grass treatment.

Christmas Cards

Hi there! Well, we seem to be having very cool weather lately and wind storms galore. I really dislike the wind, quite often I seem to get migraines with the change in barometric pressure. Thankfully I've only had one this past week, which is great considering all the changes in weather patterns.

Now, you certainly didn't come here to listen to me whine about my achey head, did you! lol, so on to my card share of the day!! This card was created with the retired SU! set Sleigh Bells Ring. I don't think I'll ever tire of this set, its so versatile and easy to colour. Plus, I love the old fashioned image. The designer paper, Christmas Cocoa Specialty can be found in the SU! Holiday Mini. Some of the pieces in this collection are flocked, they are absolutely gorgeous!! So nice to "pet" haha! :-)

I also used the photo corner punch (you will SO love this punch Heidi!!), gold brads, circle cut dies, and Red Polka Dot SU! ribbon. The card was created with White, R. Red & Soft Suede cardstocks.

Stamping with DD

Hi there! We've been busy purchasing school supplies, clothes and a bit of ringette equipment, getting ready for the upcoming school & sports seasons. I've also been fighting a head cold. Sheesh, there's something so annoying about getting a cold in the middle of summer ~ feels so wrong!! That's wintertime stuff!!

Anyway, I had the pleasure of stamping with my 16 yr. old DD the other day! She really doesn't venture into my craft studio too often, and when she does she likes to draw while I stamp. But the other day she mentioned she'd like to make a few cards! Wasn't going to pass that opportunity up! We made a few Penny Black cards along with 2 Christmas cards. This is her version of one of the Christmas cards, it was easy to make and she enjoyed trying out the Big Shot. I'll get photos of the Penny Black cards later; the wind is really whipping up this morning and this one was hard to photograph, I'll give the others a try later!

This card uses Whisper White, Basic Grey, DSP Wintergreen (retired & one of my last pieces, is that good or bad?? lol ) Nesties, Stamp Set Snowflakes (retired, still one of my all time favs), Snowfall(retired, sentiment)border snowflake punch, half back pearl and sheer white ribbon from my stash. I think she did a really nice job, I might just have to recruit her for my mass Christmas card production line!!

Holiday Card Class #4

Hi there! This card today features one of the new holiday designer papers from SU! Merry Moments along with the stamp set Tis the Season. I designed the Holiday Card class using Tis the Season for each card along with showcasing several designer papers. The theme of the class was to create great Christmas cards that are easily mass produced. Designer paper certainly comes in handy when creating quick cards. We also wanted a few cards in the class that were designed with the post office in mind!! No thick ribbon or bulky brads to contend with, requiring extra postage.

The class went well and I had such a good time with the girls. I really enjoy their company and feel quite blessed that my customers are also my friends!! What could be better than stamping with friends?? :-)

The Fifth card for the class was this beauty, CASED from Dawn Griffith's website. Be sure to check out her cards, they are always fantastic!!!

Holiday Card Class #2

Hi there! This is another card I created for the Holiday Card Class. I sure love this designer paper, its just gorgeous!!!! I know, I know, I say that about all the designer paper, but I truly didn't know that I would even really like this paper. But once I opened the package, I was sold!!

This card uses Ruby Red, Whisper White, Basic Gray, & Holiday Lounge designer paper. I used the Big Shot to cut out the star, the circle punches for the embellies and the scalloped punch for the side of the Ruby mat. A brad in the centre of the snowflake finishes it off. Quick, easy and very chic I thought!!!

Holiday Card Class #1

Hi there! This is one of the designs I've created for our Holiday Card class. My inspiration for this card came from an older Papercrafts issue. We will be using new SU! Christmas designer paper of course, but this is the actual design of the card.

This card uses Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White cardstock & Ski Slop Designer paper. I've also used the circle & scalloped punches and Red Grosgrain for embellishment.

The "theme" of this class was to create cards that are fairly quick and easy to make, a design that can be easily completed with just cutting & measuring and not alot of other fancy techniques. This is actually one of the more "involved" cards :-) Be sure to check back soon, I'll be posting the other cards this week.
