Fabulous Florets Friend Card

Good Morning!! Yaaah, I have yet another card to share!! I dug into my new supplies and used the Fabulous Florets stamp set from the Summer Mini. This beautiful stamp set also made the new Idea Book & Catalogue, which we were all very pleased to see.

My card share today was created with Melon Mambo, Pacific Point and White cardstocks. I used Pacific Point ink to stamp a random design on my white cardstock, then filled in the white background with one of the Itty Bitty backgrounds stamps (this set is now retired but forever lives upon my stamping desk!!! Its always one that I reach for, perfect for filling in those white spaces when needed!)

The flowers and leaves were stamped with versamark and embossed with Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi embossing powders, cut out and popped up with a dimensional.

The Melon Mambo cardstock was dry embossed with the Tulip border.....another staple in my stamping room it seems!! Just love this embossing folder. The "friends" sentiment is from the Just Believe stamp set.

Sweet Friend Butterfly Card

Good Morning! Well, I'm back as promised with a Sweet Friend card to share. This card was created with Kraft, Espresso & White cardstocks, along with Greenhouse Gala dsp. The card was embossed with the Elegant Bouquet folder, then sponged with White and Kraft ink to enhance the raised texture. (I used both inks because the white was too bright, so I toned it down with the Kraft)

The Butterflies were die cut with the Butterfly die and the Big Shot. I really love this die!!! I can see me using it alot, not only for cards but wall art as well. I have several canvases I've been working on and the butterflies are the perfect size for embellishment. The dsp for the butterflies is a retired Hostess paper pack.

I also used the Eyelet Border punch along the bottom of the dsp and half back pearls from my stash.

NYC MDS :)

Good Morning Friends!! Today I have a couple of MDS pages to share with you. I've been working on completing the pages from our NYC trip (from last October...ummm, I know, a little behind but as they say, better late than never, right? lol)

These 2 pages are from our visit to Central Park, which I have to say was one of my very favourite days in NYC. Such a beautiful park!! Central Park is huge, and we didn't even see half of it, I'm sure. All the more reason to go back, right?

Hello and Happy Wednesday, hard to believe its midweek already!!

Today's card share is the last of the cards my friend Melody and I made a couple weeks ago. I've left the upper area of the card open for a sentiment, if you're wondering why it looks so bare along the top :)

Isn't this a pretty card sketch? I just love how simple it was to create, and the Petals embossing folder from SU! is my new favourite, its so versatile. The half back pearls add that little bit of extra to the card, although if you were sending it through the mail, smaller bling might be a better idea!!

Tea Party DSP

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend??? Ours was extremely windy, but the temps were nice and the sun shone, so no complaining here! We went down to Calgary for the day on Saturday and I was amazed at how many trees' buds had not yet fully opened and how brown it was there compared to our area....usually its the other way around, as they seem to get more precipitation, especially late Winter & Spring.

Today I have another card share from my stamping date with Melody. This is another card Mel found on SCS, isn't it just gorgeous???? So easy to create yet so pretty, I loved the how dimensional it is.

This card used Old Olive as a base, Whisper White and So Saffron, and Tea Party DSP for the rest. We cut out the flower from one of the dsp sheets, then cut the smaller flowers and layered them on top. The leaves are an SU! Sizzlet, the tiny flowers were punched out and adorned with tiny half back pearls.

Poinsettias in May!

Hi there and Happy Thursday!! I've been a day ahead of myself this week, woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, hoping tomorrow was sleep in day....I guess I'll have to wait one more day!!

We have beautiful weather still, the sun is shining and its warm, although still pretty windy out there. I might just head to the garden center today and see what I can find to put in the large urn pot at my front door.

Well, today's card share is another that Melody and I made during our stamping day. Melody brought this card to CASE, she found the original on SplitcoastStampers. Isn't it pretty? It was a thank you card but we decided to change up the background by embossing it with the petals folder (which really mimicked the poinsettia flowers nicely!) and we added a Christmas sentiment. I don't even remember what stamp set the flowers are, you'll have to remind me Mel!

We embossed the flowers onto red cardstock, cut out and layered 2 for each flower. We secured them with a large silver brad. It was a pretty simple card to do, yet very striking, I really loved the Black, White and Red combination.

Today I have another card created with my dusty, unused stamp set Fabulous Flowers.

We used Daffodil Delight as our base, along with Basic Black and Pink Flamingo dsp. The scallop was created with the scalloped border punch, the ribbon is from my stash and the center button is a clear SU! button, again from my stash of goodies that I seem to always forget I own..... :)

Hurray for Spring!!

Good Morning!! I had the wonderful pleasure of stamping with my friend Melody last week, we had so much fun!! Melody and I don't get together as often as we'd like to. When we do finally schedule a day, well we end up talking so much we don't get much creating done.

In order to combat the lack of "creating" during our visits, we've come up with a few challenges for ourselves. This past week our challenge was to pick a stamp set we've purchased but never really used or found ourselves disliking. We were to also pair this unwanted stamp set with retired dsp that needs to be used up. What a great idea!! I'll be showing the cards we made over the next few days, I was so happy with the results.

Today's card was my contribution to the day, using Fabulous Flowers stamp set. I loved this set when it was in the catalogue, bought it and used it only once. Its not that I don't love it, but I've never felt overly inspired by it.

I do love this card though, the pairing of Basic Grey & Blushing Bride are fabulous together. What a great colour the In Colour Blushing Bride is, so very different from the other SU! pinks.

I can hardly believe we are seeing such beautiful days now, the grass is greening up, the plants are growing above ground now and it just feels HAPPY out there!! Hello Again!!

Well, hello everyone, I'm back from a stamping hiatus!! Not by choice though, the flu bug found me and took over just about everything in my life! I don't usually get the flu, if anything I get a mild cold and then I'm done. Humph, not this Spring. Its taken me 3 weeks to get over being sick, I finally felt close to normal on Monday, so here's hoping this cough finally disappears and I'll be back to my old energenic self in no time.

We are beginning to enjoy Spring here in Alberta. The weather's been fantastic lately, the snow is mostly gone and I keep looking within the rocks and grass, waiting for the first few plants to start poking through. What better time than the present to make a Spring like card? :)
Today's card share uses the beautiful (almost retired!!) Sprintime Vintage dsp, along with Rose Red and Very Vanilla cardstocks. The leaves were stamped with the Build a Blossom stamp set, then punched with the Blossom Petals Punch. The "ribbon" along the bottom was punched with the Ribbon Punch. I used "Oval All" for the sentiment, along with the oval punches. I just love the large Rose Red button in the center of the flower, I do think I'll be hoarding these buttons, they are SO pretty!

Christmas Cards in March! :)

Hi there! Today is such a beautiful day outside, its completely uplifting to be out there and basking in the sunshine, even if everything is melting and mucky. We've been walking the pups on a regular basis but now that its warmer we can go further each night ~ and the best part is that its light outside when we go! Funny how the weather can really affect our spirits, isn't it?

Ha, and after all that talk about beautiful Spring weather I have a Christmas card to share with you, ah the irony of it, hey?? :) This card uses Home For Christmas, one of my favourite SU! Christmas stamp sets. The cardstock is Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and of course, you know me, an unknown piece of leftover retired designer paper that was just begging to be used up.

Easter Greetings

Good Day!! The sun is shining as of late and the weather seems to be warming up!! The snow on the driveways and streets is starting to melt, although I do think the huge mountain of snow in our yard will take a bit more time. I also won't mention that the weatherman predicted some snowfall on the weekend........bleck! We'll just live for today, right???

On to the card share! Yaaah for me, I've used a sentiment that current! Yes indeedy, there are several current elements on this card today. :)

The pretty Island girl is from Summer by the Sea and the Springtime sentiment is from the newest Easter/Spring set called Easter Blossoms. Orchic Opulence cardstock along with the dsp are both retired the but the base of the card is the ever gorgeous Daffodil Delight, I absolutely love this new SU! colour. Its a perfect "yellow"....not too bright or primary and not too soft. The lace and pearls are from my stash and the white ribbon is SU!.

Friendship Mouse

Good Afternoon! Well, I'm still hanging in there, migraines are seemingly less than more, so I guess that's good? Would rather have none, but that's not going to happen any time soon! I don't think this lovely weather helps...its finally warmed up a bit, but now we are supposed to receive more snow.....I do think March and April are my least favourite months because you just know that spring is around the corner........its just so hard waiting for the winter to disappear. I love living in Alberta but I do find the months of March and April quite trying.

Well, thanks for letting me vent!! On to my card share!! I've coloured a Tina Wenke design here (Stampavie stamps) and coordinated it with several different designer papers, some retired, some not! Sorry about that, I just used up some scraps in my room so I'm not sure where the purple and pink are from, but the green design is from the Greenhouse Gala dsp. The bling is from my stash, the sentiment punched with a circle punch and matted onto an Orchid Opulence scalloped punch circle.

Longtime Friend Thinking of You

Good Morning! Today I have another image from the retired SU! set Longtime Friend. I used various coloured markers to colour in the image and cut it out with the oval and scalloped oval dies. The white cardstock was embossed with the Lattice embossing folder, the Thinking of You is from this year's SAB catalogue and the dsp is from a retired Hostess Level 1 paper pack. The ribbon is from my stash, not sure where that came from!! Sometimes I think I have the same problem accumulating ribbon as I do designer paper.... :)

Friend to Friend

Good Morning to you!!

Wow, are we ever in a deep freeze again, here in Sunny Alberta. The only thing that doesn't make me stir crazy is that the sun shines brightly, and for longer hours now. Its still light at 6pm, and that in itself is definitely uplifting to the spirits!!

Today I have a Friendship card to share, using a very soft combination of blues and yellows. Can you tell I'm thinking Spring?? :)

I decided to let texture play a big part in this card, with very little stamping. The image is SU!'s Flower for All Seasons, coloured with markers (this set is a SAB selection this year!) along with Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment, punched out with the Word Window punch. Half back pearls and Taffetta white ribbon are my embellies.

Hello there!

Today I have another "Longtime Friend" image to share. As I mentioned in a previous post, I just love colouring this image. I know this is very similar to the last friend image/card that I posted, but I wanted to share it anyways.

The colours are mostly the same, I've used the Hostess Level One paperpack (retired), along with Not Quite Navy and Whisper White cardstocks. I also used the circle and scalloped circle punches for the sentiment, nesties for the image and half back pearls for the corner.

Hybrid Friends 24-7

Hello and can you believe its Thursday already!! One more day til the weekend!!

Today I have another Hybrid card to share. The only stamping on this card is the Just for You, which was punched with the small oval punch, then matted with the scalloped and large oval punch. The main image was generated with My Digital Studio using the stamp brush set Friends 24-7. I did sponge around the edges with Soft Suede ink after printing and cutting the image to size.

The Lattice embossing folder adds some texture to this card, along with the Not Quite Navy grid designer paper, which is left over from a previous Level One Hostess freebie. The base and matting is Early Espresso and Very Vanilla, and the Chocolate coloured brads were from my stash of goodies. I also used the Photo Corner Punch.

Longtime Friend

Hello there!
Today I have one more card to share!! I was busy colouring over the weekend, in between my migraines! I was finally able to put this image to a card.

I sure miss this old SU! set, Longtime Friend, its such a fun image to colour. The details of the card are fairly simple, Kraft, White and Hostess Level 1 paperpack (retired), along with eyelets, twine and oval punches. The "friend" is from an old SAB set and fit perfectly within the oval.

As I mentioned before, I'm trying to build up my stash of "mailable" cards and hope this one fits the bill, the eyelets are fairly flat and there's no ribbon to catch under the mailing machine. (keeping fingers crossed that its mailable anyways!! )

Clean & Simple Polar Bears

Good Morning to you!!

Today I have the sweetest little polar bears in the world to share with you. Paired with the Tulip embossing folder from SU!, and Baja Breeze & Pretty In Pink cardstocks, I have a very "mailable" Christmas card!! After having to put double postage on just about all my Christmas cards last year, I have to admit I'm considering doing simpler Christmas designs this year with less embellies on them. But then again, I do love my brads, ribbons, bows and pearls, it may be hard to accomplish clean and simple and be happy with the outcome!! I have a hard time just leaving a card alone, I always want to add just a little more...!

I also used Dazzling Diamonds and Snow on the tips of the trees and hills, cut the image out with a nestie and sponged the edges with Baja Breeze ink. The holly in the image does have little red berries, but the Dazzling Diamonds are sort of covering them up, I will have to be careful next time not to put the glitter on there!!

Party Hearty and Ice Cream Parlour Fun

Good Morning! Well, its certainly been a busy week for us around here. I've had a few nasty migraines, which has kept me from doing anything exciting, but that's the way it goes I guess. At least there are some good meds out there for migraines, helps a person get through the day!! :)

We are experiencing more cold weather (again!) although its supposed to warm right up again in a few days. At least the sun is shining today, its been quite gloomy this week. I can handle the cold quite fine if the sun is shining!

Anyways, you didn't come here to hear me contemplate the weather now did you? :)

This card was alot of fun to make. Its a hybrid card!! Just love My Digital Studio Program, there are so many possibilities within. I know I say that over and over again, but I have enjoyed this program even more than I expected.

The Birthday greetings and stamp are MDS Party Hearty, the dsp is the Ice Cream Parlour (wow, don't you just love the gorgeous bright colours in this collection?? its so yummy, if I can use that word to describe paper!)

Cardstock is as follows: Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Pacific Point. The embellishments I used are: the Photo Corner punch, Oval Punches, nesties for the matted image, a Glimmer Brad (you're going to love these Melody!!!!) along with the beautiful new seam binding. I just love this ribbon, its so easy to pull and gather, as I did in the card above. Its so soft and really pliable, very easy to work with if you are at all challenged in the bow tieing department! :)

I also just noticed that the dry weather is effecting my cardstock, as you will notice in the picture above that the cardstock is a bit rough along the folded card edge. That's an easy fix, if you experience this: just take your block sander and run it along the edge a couple of times (gently of course!) and you'll be able to "sand" the roughness away. We have a humidifier on our furnace but no matter what, Alberta is pretty dry in the winter, even with all the snow we've had!!

Sweet Summer SAB

Good Morning!! Today I have a SAB card share. This stamp set is so sweet and summery, which is probably why they called it Sweet Summer! The sentiment is also SAB, So Happy For You. Love the modern font in this set!!

The details are as follows: Wild Wasabi, Real Red and White cardstocks, matching markers, retired Gingham ribbon, silver brads, oval punches. Dazzling Diamonds fill the center of the flowers. I loved the clean lines of this card.

Thinking of You

Good Morning! Hope you are enjoying this warmer weather we are experiencing! Its kind of strange to go from -27 to +5 C in a matter of days!!

For my card share today I have a Thinking of You card, one I made to tuck away in my stash. Its masculine in its own right, yet has a flower on it, and a bit of bling. Not sure if I'd give it to a guy though.....the bling probably dictates that, hey?? :)

The details are pretty simple: Basic Grey and Marina Mist cardstocks, along with the retired dsp Walk in the Park. I hoarded this paper from last year, I absolutely love it but figured it wasn't doing any good sitting in the bin, so I cut into it and made a few cards. :)

The leaves were punched from the newest SU! punch that coordinates with the Build a Blossom, what a great punch, I love it!! The flowers are from the SU! Flowerfolds die and embossed with the small dot embossing folder, and in the center is a medium sized Grey corduroy brad. The sentiment is from the SAB set So Happy for You.

A First at Build a Blossom

Good Morning! Today I have a springy/summery card to share, one that gives us hope that soon we will be seeing flowers and pretty colours in our landscapes, instead of the grey and brown melting snow out there!!

I've used the Build a Blossom for this new stamp set, along with the coordinating punch. Love this combination!!! What a fun stamp set, and the punch is really versatile, the leaves are perfect for all kinds of flowers, not just the ones created with this stamp set. The sentiment is from So Happy for You, a SAB set.

The details of the card are pretty simple: Whisper White, Razzleberry and Melon Mambo cardstocks, Melon Mambo ink, large dots embossing folder, Eyelet border punch, bling and button from my stash. I am still using up old designer paper, this one is Razzleberry Lemonade.

Pretty Miss Valentine Kitty

Hi there and Happy Tuesday! I think this is my last Valentine card share. Isn't she a sweet kitty? This image is from a very old, very retired SU! set called Have a Heart.

The details of this card are pretty simple, Kraft, White and Regal Rose cardstocks, Sending Love dsp (retired but in the Clearance section), SU! pink satin ribbon, Scribbles & Swirls sizzlet die, Button sizzlet die, nesties for main image, Dotted and Lattice embossing folders, Photocorner punch, and red glitter. I also paper pieced the kitty's dress from the designer paper, giving the image a bit more interest than just colouring it.

Lighthouse Happy Birthday

Hello there! Today's card share uses the retired SU! set Winds of Grace. I love this type of image on watercolour paper and must miss decorative art painting more than I realize because I could sit for hours and hours, watercolouring images. :)

This card is really quite plain and simple, but the image, colouring and sparkle of the H20's really speak for themselves when you see this card in person, so I just added brads for a bit of embellishment. Masculine cards don't really need to be too ribbony or frilly I guess :)

The details for this card are as follows: Basic Black, W. White & Bordering Blue cardstocks, watercolour paper, SU! markers, Twinkling H2O's, Silver Brads.

A Little Shabby, A Little Chic

Good Morning! Today I have a vintage, sort of shabby chic card to share with you. I had so much fun creating this flower!!! I used the 3 different dies: Best Blossoms, Table Setting die (centre of the flower) and the Island Floral die. The squigglies are from the Sizzlet die Scribbles & Swirls, and the pearls from my stash. I sprayed the flowers with water and squished them up to make the cardstock more pliable. Then layered it all together and scrunched and squished somemore. Once I had the shape required, the layers were glued and allowed to dry. I then sprayed the flowers with shimmer spray tinted pink.

The main components of the card are: Basic Black & W. White cardstocks, pink retired dsp in Pink Pirouette, retired Night & Day dsp (don't fret though, if you own the MDS program you can download this designer paper to have forever!!). I also used the scalloped border punch, pewter jumbo eyelet, Pink Taffeta, White Satin and organza ribbon. The Musical Notes are a SU! wheel and From the Heart is also SU!, from the Holidays & Wishes stamp set.

Hedgie Flowers for You

Hi there! Today I have a Hedgehog card to share. This little Penny Black critter is so cute!!! I stamped Hedgie on watercolour paper and coloured with SU! markers. The dsp for this card is retired, but so yummy! I love the bright colours in this package, perfectly warm to create with these past few fridgid weeks. I'm so thankful its warmed up out there, it is just such a pleasure to get back to our daily walks with the doggies, although there's so much ice I think we may need grippers or something for our shoes!

The base for the card is Regal Rose, Whisper White was used for the scalloped punch and word window punch, which I just shortened a bit. The Thinking of You is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I used Spellbinders for the image shape, embossed dots folder, SU! Daisy die and Button Sizzlet die. The brown pearls are from my stash.

Sweet Missy Mouse

Good Morning! Excuse the lousy picture, I just didn't have a good camera day when I took this :) A little fuzzy....

This darling little mouse is from the Tina Wenke collection, Stampavie Stamps. I really don't use non SU! all that often, but I just couldn't resist this darling little face in the tea cup. So sweet. I stamped the image on watercolour paper and coloured in with SU! markers and sponged around the edges with Regal Rose ink. I also used the Ticket Corner Punch on the corners of the main image. I used to use this punch on everything and had forgotten how it adds such a nice little detail to the corners.

This card's base is white, along with Regal Rose cardstock for the mat, and the retired Tea Party designer paper. I also used white lace from my stash, Certainly Celery ribbon, the Big Shot die "Daisies" (cut using Almost Amythest cardstock, retired as well) and the celery coloured pearls are from my stash of goodies.

Nature Prints Revisted

Good Morning! I was able to spend some time in the stamp room this past weekend, I really enjoyed pulling out a few old stamps and reaquainting myself with them! I have always loved this stamp set Nature Prints for masculine cards, as its so easy to work with. The sentiment is from the Oval All set.

This card has a Chocolate Chip base, along with Very Vanilla and Marina Mist. The background paper is from my stash, from the Stella Ruby Collection. I also used the oval punches, retired Chocolate Chip stitched grosgrain and a couple of chocolate coloured pearls from my stash.

Good Day! Well, today's weather looks a little more promising, but I highly doubt that Spring is around the corner! It will be so nice to send this frigid weather on its way!! The sun is shining brightly though, and certainly makes ones spirits lift, even if its still chilly :)

Today I have another Valentine share. This card uses a Penny Black stamp, coloured with SU! markers and Twinkling H2O's. The base is Regal Rose and White, and the dsp is from last year's mini. The pearls are from my stash, and I used SU! scalloped border punch along the bottom of the dsp. The gorgeous satin ribbon is SU! as well.

Finishing Up My Last Few Valentine's!

Hi there! I've been hibernating away in my Stamp room, trying to ignore the frigid temperatures outside. :) At least the sun is shining but it could stand to be warmer; it was -36 Celcius on our deck this morning, that's waaay too cold for my liking!!

I've been concentrating on finishing the last of my Valentine's day cards. I've mailed a few out already (I know, kind of early wasn't it?? I just wasn't thinking....oh well, at least they won't be late!!). My card share today would be a great Masculine card as its not too frilly and uses jute as an embellishment instead of ribbon. Jute is so much more more manly, don't you think? :)

The card's base is Crumb Cake (don't you just want to run into the kitchen and whip up a cinnamon coffee cake when you hear the name "Crumb Cake"? I know I sure do..!!).

Layers are Real and Red and Sending Love DSP from last season, although you can still find this particular paper in SU!'s Clearance Section. I used the Eyelet Border punch on a couple of pieces of Vanilla and Real Red cardstock and layered together over the dsp, then punched a couple of holes at the top with the Cropodile and threaded a strand of jute through the holes, a couple times over, finishing with a bow. The With Love stamp comes from the Yummy SAB set from last season, stamped on vanilla and punched out with oval and scalloped oval punches.

Tale of Two Scrapbooking Pages

Hi there!! Today I am sharing a scrapbook page I did of our DD and our Sophie dog. Obviously I couldn't decide on the colour or black and white photo so I did one of both!

As well, I don't know that I'm thrilled with the butterfly, but because these pages have been created with MDS, I can just go in at a later date and make the changes I want. I don't know if I want the butterfly bigger or something else in there.....we'll see!! I think maybe a button or something like a brad on the butterfly might work.

I do love my MDS, and have been working diligently on our New York album, so I'll share a few more of those as they are completed.

French Rose

Hi there & Happy Wednesday!!! I have another pretty rose card to share. The inspiration for this card comes from the latest Stamp It! magazine, page 16. I thought it was really neat how the designer used Crumb Cake matted on Crumb Cake. For my card, I stamped the very old background stamp French Script (still one of my favs!!) with white craft ink, then embossed with white embossing powder, and finishing by sponged around the edges with white craft. The just for you stamp is from the gorgeous stamp set Just Believe and the rose is from Fifth Avenue Floral.

For the flower, I stamped with white craft onto watercolour paper, embossed with white embossing powder and then applied the reinker technique to colour it in. I can't rememember the colours I used on this one, I think Melon Mambo and Regal Rose? I sure enjoy doing these roses, each one turns out differently.

The Eyelet border punch was used with Whisper White cardstock, the ribbon is Crumb Cake taffeta, the pearls from my (endless) stash!. The designer paper is something small found in my stash of papers, you know that pile that keeps growing and being added to, because you just don't want to "waste" anything!! :) I seem to have several stashes of those....

Birthday Circles

Hello there!!! Well, I thought I'd try a totally different layout and design than what's the norm for me. This is such a modern, clean card isn't it?? I loved the colours presented in the magazine but would like to try this in a different colour combo as well, its possibilities would be endless.

Inspiration for this card came from Color Inspiration by Paper Crafts, page 92.

I used Basic Grey for my base, along with More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy, along with the SU! circle punches, and corner rounder punch. The Happy Birthday is one of my favourites from an old SAB set.

River Rock Butterfly

Good Morning!! Hope everyone had a good weekend? Our was fabulous, the weather was so warm and balmy for our neck of the woods, it's such a nice change from the frigid deep freeze we endured :) We took the Schnauzers on several long walks and really enjoyed the sunshine. I think they did too!

Today I have a pretty Butterfly card to share. The inspiration for this card comes from the latest Stamp It! Magazine, page 35. I loved the layout of this card, and thought the button detail was really cool. We photographed this on black, which looks great but unfortunately doesn't show the base of the card very well, which is black.

The details for this card are: Black and River Rock cardstocks, retired dsp in River Rock polka dot, sewing machine, Big Shot butterfly dies, linen thread and jute, Thank you from Level One Hostess Set Because I Care (just love that font!!) and the Sizzlet Button die from SU!. The butterflies are popped up on dimensionals, but its hard to tell in this photo.

Stars Congrats

Hi there & Happy Sunday! Its finally decided to warm up here and melt some of the snow off the roads and driveways!! I really do enjoy Winter though, and hope it doesn't melt all the snow and then everything is just yucky brown til the end of May. 'Cause we don't get spring til early June, then its Summer a week or two later!! :)

On to the card....I'm trying to keep my New Year resolution and use one of my many magazines for inspiration, and did so with this card. Inspiration is from the magazine Color Inspiration by Paper Crafts, page 40. Now I can hear you all saying, Deb!!!! This is a new magazine, not an old one....I know, I know, I never promised to stop buying them, I just promised to use them more often for inspiration!! heehee :)

For my card, I used Crumb Cake and Night of Navy for the base, whisper white for the main image. The stars are from the SU! stars die, the buttons from an old shirt of my DH's, SU! ribbon and large brad from the Hodgepodge kit. The dsp for the stars is from a previous Level One hostess set.

Now the Congratuations is from last years' SAB, and for the life of me I cannot stamp this one straight!!!! I even used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig here and still struggled with it Sheesh!!! I also stitched around the edges of the white with my sewing machine.

I loved the designer's clean lines of this card.

Butterfly Thinking of You...

Hello there, Happy Monday!

Monday is good, the kids are off to school and the house is relatively quiet. My DH has this week off and we are going to be cleaning and prepping the walls for painting. ugh, don't know if that will be fun, rewarding or just plain old alot of work!!

On to the fun stuff, stamping!! I'm not going to make any more cards right now with the Razzleberry Lemonade, so please don't fret!! this will be my last one for awhile. I still have some dsp left, but I will find another to inspire me.

This card uses Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and the Razzleberry Lemondade dsp. The lace and bling are from my stash, paper flower from the Pretties Kit, the dies are Spellbinders, and the stamp set Sincere Saluations is the very first one I bought when I hosted my first SU! workshop. It was half price, if you can imagine, and I didn't realize at the time just how "valuable" I would find word sentiments.

Sympathy Card

Good Morning! Well, more shovelling yesterday and a bit to do today, I'm sure the snow will soon be finished...? :)

Today I have a sympathy card to share. This is a card I should really make more of to have in my stash as its always hard to make one when you need it most.

This card uses the Razzleberry Lemonade dsp, along with Basic Grey ribbon and cardstock, the Scalloped Circle big die, pearls from my stash and the stamp set Fifth Avenue Floral. The sentiment is from an old hostess set, Warm Wishes (I think). I used the reinker technique to colour in the rose, after it had been embossed on white on watercolour paper.

Bright Warm Card on a Very Cold Day!!

Good Afternoon! Its been such a snowy week here in Alberta, the winter weather just doesn't seem to want to settle down. We've lived in our house for 8 years now and I don't ever recall this much snow here. Our balcony is piled high with snow and the cast iron urns with their little evergreen trees in them look like Marge Simpson's hair!! Makes me smile everytime I look out there.

So, I have a few crafting resolutions for the New Year, how about you? I mentioned in a previous post I would like to make time for more crafting with my friends, I truly enjoy their company, we all share a love of crafting and don't seem to find the time to get together as often as we should. :)

Another important resolution regards my personal craft space. I do think I'm a bit of a magazine junkie, I seem to have collected them for a couple of years now and have *ahem* quite a few.....So, the last few days I've been going through every single magazine I own, and putting post-it notes on the pages of inspriation. I also have a pile for non inspirational ones (as our tastes do change!!) along with old stamp sets and some dsp I just don't think inspires me any longer. I'll sell those in our craft sale this spring. Back to the resolution, I would like to take a magazine a day and create one of the inspirational pieces from it. This will be a great way to replentish my card stash. So, I'm excited about this New Year and my crafting resolutions!!

On to the card!! Isn't this the neatest card?? I loved the design when I saw it and had to try it. All the dsp was still sitting on my table, so I quickly cut one inch wide pieces and adhered them across the card at an angle. The ribbon covers up the uneveness, so don't stress over that. Cute hey? Would be a great way to make some mass Christmas cards I was thinking, sitting and glueing these strips of paper while watching tv with my DH some nights.

This dsp is the Razzleberry Lemonade (retired), along with Razzleberry and Melon Mambo cardstock, Crushed Curry grosgrain (I really loved this colour!!), bling on the bottom from my stash, the Island Floral big die, scalloped circle and a bright yellow brad in the middle.

Four Valentine Hearts

Hi there and Happy Friday! Its been a busy week at our house, how time flies when you have to stay inside because its cold and wintery out there. I have no complaints, I love the excuse to stay in and stamp!!

I can hardly wait for SAB to start, I have a list of dies, MDS downloads and stamps that I'd like to order, we'll have to see how many sets I qualify for this year! I have quite a Wish List :)

Today's card share is (again!) another Valentine card. This was a simple card, created with an embossed dots folder, the SU! heart punch, pink taffetta ribbon, pink pearls and a scalloped border along the bottom. I wasn't sure how crazy I was about the ribbon in the corner but those I showed it to liked it alot, so I'll leave it. (for now!) :)

Hi there! I can hardly believe how quickly the week has gone by. We are still experiencing "winter" here, but I guess that's to be expected!! It is January!! I really do enjoy Winter, but only til the end of February, then I begin to anxiously await Spring.

New York in MDS

Hi There! I've been busy "documenting" our wonderful trip to Manhattan. We went last October, and wow!! was it fun. We were there for 7 days, and that truly wasn't long enough to see everything. I'm sure it would take forever to see "everything" but I'd sure love to try.

We really enjoyed various types and styles of restaurants in Manhattan, especially having afternoon breaks at the "Shake Shack"! oooooh my the hamburgers were amazing. Our DD absolutely loved the hot dogs there, which were split, grilled and piled high with saurkraut. And Dylan's Candybar had the most wonderful cupcakes, they tasted homemade, not storebought or factory created, which says alot! And of course, I could hardly wait to try some Nuts 4 Nuts! Sooo good. The Nuts 4 Nuts vedors are everywhere, roasting almonds, cashews etc right there in their little wagons on the street. The aroma is so enticing! I've tried to recreate their roasting technique at home and I think I'm almost there, but mine will never be quite the same as theirs. But that's okay, I'll just have to go back for more...someday.

Hello Hello!! I have another Valentine card to share today. My friend Mel and I made quite a few last week, it was so fun (and relaxing) to stamp and chat. I think I did most of the talking, Mel is such a good listener. :) Thanks Melody!!

This card was created with the Greeting Card Kids stamp set. I absolutely {heart} this set, its just adorable and so easy to colour. The base of the card is Kraft, the dies are Spellbinders and I used the Eyelet Border punch along the side of the dsp. I added a bit of shimmer paint to the little girl's dress, just to add a bit of bling. The darling button is from the SU! sizzlet, I love how I can have a button to match anything I make, all with the roll of the Big Shot handle. Did I ever mention how much I love the Big Shot?? Hmmm, I don't think I have.... :)

Punched Valentines

Good Morning Everyone!! We received quite a bit of snow here on the weekend and are still working on digging out!! We've shovelled the drive and sidewalks several times now, it just doesn't seem to want to go away. Yesterday afternoon the sun finally decided to shine, so with luck we'll see some more of that. I don't mind the cold at all, nor do I mind the snow, but I sure don't like gloomy days! Gotta have my sunshine. :)

Today's Valentine is very simple yet quite eye catching. I had the circles and hearts laying on my desk from another card sketch, and thought I'd try a modern, simple card. I love how it turned out, and thought the button in the middle was a good match to the Pretty In Pink. This could also be a "guy" card I think (minus the pink button though!!). You could even change the hearts to black and white or blue and white if you wanted.

Happiness Always Valentine

Good Afternoon!! I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon stamping with my friend Melody last week!!! We really enjoyed ourselves, its been way too long since we've found the time to get together just for stamping. My New Year's resolution (one of them anyways!) is to find a little more time for myself and my friends, especially in a crafting atmosphere.

This card is a cute Valentine card, using the Sweet Treat cups and some valentine confetti Mel found at the Dollar store. This particular treat cup doesn't open, as the recipient doesn't really need to get the confetti out, so I just glued the whole piece on the die cut circles. Usually I make a "trap door" on the other side of the card, which allows the recipient to get the goodies out of the cup. :)

The designer paper is from last year's mini, if you can imagine that!! I can hardly believe a whole year has gone by since it came out, its one of my very favourite dsp's ever. The stamp set is retired, the ribbon is our Pink Taffetta ribbon and I used the eyelet border punch along the edge of the dsp.

Another MDS share

Hi there!! Today I have a MDS page to share. I can hardly take credit for this page as it was totally inspired by Connie Collins' page. She won the MDS Stampin' Up! contest, I'll post the link to it here . Hers is absolutely beautiful, and the photo of her niece is just so sweet!!

This is my version, almost exactly the same layout, with a few flowers from the Petal Pizzaz stamp set added instead of the daisies, and a picture of our two Standard Schnauzers, who truly are "Best Buds".

I was so inspired by Connie's layout and design, as well as the bright colours. I tend to do alot of my MDS on black textured background and it was really exciting to change it up a bit and do something totally different. I'm thinking I'll have to do more of this type of layout, this was so much fun!!

Doggie Treats and MDS

Hi there! Today I have a cute little treat bag to share with you! I made these little doggie bones as a Christmas treat for the pups in our lives and wanted a cute way to package them. My Digital Studio to the rescue!! I printed out the Scottie dog along with the sentiment, cut it out and matted it on black. I then cut out the Top Note die, folded in half and adhered all together. Filled the cello bags, folded over the top, secured with a staple at the back. I then added the Top Note Die and secured those edges with a staple as well. A brad also works nicely on each side, but be sure that the cello bag you are using meets the edges or the brad won't catch it all in there.

Candle with Designer Paper & Rosette from Table Setting Die

Good Evening! Well, the countdown is surely on now, Christmas is just days away and I'm hoping to have everything ready by Thursday. We are having a party on Christmas Eve and I'm baking everyone a gingerbread house to decorate!! Its really going to be alot of fun, I can hardly wait. The Gingerbread houses aren't huge, but I do have 10 to make, so wish me luck. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no gingerbread breakage!! :)

Today's share is a decorated candle holder, a little something I made for a Christmas gift. Its a beautiful vanilla scented candle, complete with its own richly covered box. You can see in the picture below, its a fair sized candle.

I added a bit of designer paper around the candle, along with some chocolate chip satin ribbon, a felt snowflake, a pearl pin from the Pretties kit and, yes again, another beautiful rose from the Table Setting die. I just love this die, so many possibilities!! I'm hoping to have time to make placecards for our gingerbread party along with napkin rings and rosettes for our turkey dinner, time will be the only thing in my way :)

Santa's Bag of Goodies

Good Afternoon! Today I have a cute little bag to share, isn't it sweet? I made a few of these this season, and filled them with carmel corn. Wow, do I love carmel corn, its hard for me to stop eating it once I've started!!

This little bag is a form of a 2, 4, 6, 8 bag, made with designer paper, striped ribbon along with basic black and gold cardstock for "Santa's belt".

Today has been a wonderful day, and I'm sure looking forward to this evening! I'm off to dinner with my 5 friends for a "girls night out". We've been getting together for about 16 years now, starting way back when our kids were little and we seemed to have more energy!! Our original group was made up of 12 ladies, and we faithfully got together once a month; now there are only 5 of us but we seem to have a harder time scheduling a regular dinner! Shouldn't we have more time and be more organized now that the kids are pretty much self sufficient?? :) Funny how that works...!

More MIttens

Hi there! Today I have a few more mitten photos to show you. I really enjoyed making these mittens; they're not perfect but pretty cute!! I just might pick up a few more pairs and try out some different colour combinations. I added some dazzling diamonds to the black pair's rose, you can really see the diamonds on the black of the mitten, but in real life they don't look so glittery!! The red pair are a true red but for some reason the camera wanted to see them as orange....

Table Setting die for Mittens?? :)

Hi there!! Well, another post from me, what a surprise! I have been busy in the stamp room, just haven't had alot of time to create and publish the posts. I hope to be a little more consistent in the New Year though :)

So, aren't these just darling mittens??? I am so loving the Big Shot and all the marvelous dies one can purchase! These are just regular purchased fleece mittens adorned with the rose and leaves cut from the Table Setting die. I really loved the colour combination here, a mustard yellow, garden green and a lighter espresso brown fleece, so pretty!!

I do have issues with the hot glue gun though, I don't think it likes me!! I've burnt myself twice now with it, and OUCH does that hurt!! There are two huge blisters where the glue hit, I really need to be more careful. :)

Cutie Christmas

Good Afternoon! Well, time is certainly flying by, I can hardly believe that we are only a week and a bit away from Christmas!! Where does the time go??? I think I'm closing in on the finish line though; most gifts have been purchased, cards mailed, parcels mailed and quite a bit of baking completed. (although I'm sure I've personally eaten half of what we've made so far.....carmel corn is especially hard to keep in the house, its SO good!!)

This cute little card is all SU! products, except for the square dies that cut and mat the image. Don't you just love the Sizzlet buttons at the top??? What a great purchase, I really enjoy using this die. There's a very cute button stamp set coming up in the new Mini catalogue, just wait til you see that one!!

Hi there! Today I wanted to share a Digital Studio creation with you. I love the colours and layout of the page. I find when doing pages for the "boys" (our sons!) I don't like to add too many embellishments or ribbon, they seem to like a more streamlined layout. However, I did get some embellies in there with the scalloped edge and the brads :)

Hi There! Today's card share is a Thank You card. The inspiration for this card came from a swap I received from Jan Nielsen, my favourite SU! demo from Camrose!! Its very quick and easy to create this card with punches and the big shot. I'm always amazed at how far we stampers have come in the last 4 years, the accessories available now are limitless. I remember it being a big deal when we added a brad and ribbon, now we can create even more gorgeous cards with such ease, one crank of the Big Shot and voila!! a beautiful card with texture and plenty of layers.

Friends Never Fade

Hi there!

Today's card share was created with the SU! stamp set Friends Never Fade, along with the Greenhouse Gala Designer Paper. The gorgeous Butterfly is the SU! embossed die, which cuts and embosses at the same time, its so pretty!!

If you look closely at the card, you will see a hidden message......just pull on the butterfly and scalloped circle and out comes a message, which is hidden behind the red cardstock mat!! You could stamp anything from Happy Birthday to a simple Hello on there. We did a card very similar to this at our Christmas Stamp a Stack a few years ago. Just a little something different to add to the card front.

Flowerbug has a wonderful sample here, her photos show the message displayed. She's used the Two Tags Die, which I don't have (yet!!) and created a bookmark, so cute!!!

Today's card share is a cute girly card, created mostly with the Big Shot and Punches. There are plenty of samples of this card on the web and SCS, this is my version of it. It was such a fun card to make, and really quite quick and easy.

I've used Basic Black and Whisper White cardstocks, along with various designer papers for the card. The dsp for the dress is from a retired paper pack, the purse dsp is from the Night & Day series, also retired but available for download on the My Digital Studio.

Good Morning! Today I am sharing a picture of Frankie, the Halloween Treat Box I made for my kids and their friends. Isn't he adorable??? Frankie was quick and easy to make using the Top Note Die, 1 1/4 circle and tag punches. I used Kiwi Kiss and Elegant Eggplant for the face and hair, black and white cardstocks for the eyes and a SU! marker for his mouth and stitches. I had the raffia in my stash, it was a perfect match for the box.

We also did this little box for our Stamping Group, the ladies loved it and went home with lots of great ideas. Thanks for such a great evening ladies, I had so much fun!!!

Bright & Colourful.....

Hi there!! I'm back in the stamp room but instead of stamping I've been creating with the MDS program. This program is really fun, and so easy to use. I'm a little Adobe Photoshop Elements Challenged, and was worried that SU!'s MDS program might be a steep learning curve for me, but thank goodness it was easy as anything.
This page, I do admit, is really bright and colourful but I couldn't resist giving it a try. I CASED a page from the SU! MDS blog, the original creation was made by Kathy Hill. The background squares were all created with the new SU! colours, aren't they pretty?? I was impressed that the MDS updates for all the new In Colours and new SU! Colours were as easy as a click of a few buttons.

We've been on several trips this past few months, from Beautiful British Columbia to Absolutely Amazing New York, and I'm really anxious to get busy and make a few pages while the trips are fresh in my mind, because we all know that I just don't have the best memory!!

Hi there! Today I have a few more Christmas cards created with the Merrry Moments dsp. I still have a few more small pieces of this designer paper left, but not much. It was fun to sit down with the goal of making as many Christmas cards as I could with what was on hand. The bonus to all of this is not only did I use my paper up (so now I can buy more!!) but I am getting a head start on my Christmas/Holiday cards!! So, come December first I (hopefully) won't be stressing about getting my cards finished, (hopefully) they will be stamped and ready to send.....right?? (hopefully....!)

Using up that Designer Paper cause I need more!!

Good Morning! Yesterday morning I went into my stamp room to clean it up, what a mess it was!! As usual, I was putting away a few pieces of dsp and thought, you know if I want to buy more of this stuff I really have to start using up what I own.....so, my cleaning session quickly became a card making session!!! I loved this dsp when I first saw it in the catalogue but wasn't that inspired with it once I received it. I just didn't like the vanilla and red designs, I tend to gravitate more to red and crisp white. However, after working with the green palette in this collection, I decided I really liked it!! Garden Green, Old Olive and Vanilla are really quite beautiful together. I loved the grey ribbon touch on the card above, that was my DD's idea and I have to say I really like the greens with the grey and vanilla, subtle and so pretty.

Happy First Day of Summer!!

Good Morning! and Happy Summer Solstice!!! It actually feels like summer lately, something I'm so thankful for. We haven't had the nicest, warmest spring so I'm truly enjoying this rash of heat and beautiful sunshine this past while.

In honour of Summer Solstice (not really, it just kind of worked out this way, but hey we'll go with it, right? :) I've created a card using the Island Floral dsp and the Island Floral die for the Big Shot. I love this whole combination, but then I love anything that uses the Big Shot. My favourite stamping toy ever! Even my husband thinks its kind of neat and he really doesn't take much interest in my stamping or supplies. He's a detailed, black and white kind of guy and I'm a creative, not follow the directions and back track later kind of gal so we're perfect for each other!! Although I think he's surprising himself with his creative detail in photography, so I guess we all learn as we go. I don't think I'll ever have his gift for detail though, (its too boring!! haha!)

Digital Cards with a Sunset View

Good Morning! Today I have another set of Digital cards I created. These photos were taken from our back deck during a recent sunset. I printed them out onto Whisper White cardstock and matted them with Black, Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango. They look fabulous on Glossy Cardstock as well, the colours are much more vivid, but thought I'd give the Whisper White a try. I wanted to keep the photo as the main focus on the cards so I went with very little embellishment and relied on colour and the use of a black matt to make everything "pop".

Hybrid Digital Studios Cards Part II

The photo above is another of the Hybrid Thank you cards. I really love the colours SU! has chosen for this digital paper, its so beautiful. The photo below is the collection of all the SU! digi papers. I also added the Presto Patterns onto the design of the cards. The Pacific Point, Celery and White card is gorgeous, but its hard to get a good photo of it today, its so sunny and bright outside and the glossy seems to pick up all kind of bouncing light. My DH would be able to fix that; however I don't have his photography knowledge so this is the best pic I can get!! :)

Hybrid Digital Studio Cards

Hi there! Today I have a few thank you cards that I created with the My Digital Studio program. These backgrounds are one of the latest downloads from SU!, called Summertime Splendor. Aren't they just gorgeous?? I printed them out on glossy cardstock and matted them with coordinating cardstocks. The flower was made with the Island Floral Die, found in the latest SU! mini. The 5 petal flower punch lent its petals to create the "leaves" in behind. The addition of brads and a few extra pieces of contrast cardstock add the little touches to these cards to make them complete.

Another Beary Picinic Card!

Hi there! I just wanted to share the second card I made using this darling image. The details are the same as yesterday's post, only difference being ribbon in the corner, instead of a flower, and the MS punch was used along the border of the image.

In order to make the ribbon more interesting, I took my SU! two way glue pen and ran it along the edges of the ribbon and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on it. The ribbon looks so gorgeous in real life, feel free to click on the picture to see it closer. What a great way to jazz up some ribbon. My inspiration for this was some cheapo dollar store ribbon that had dazzling little sparkles all over the edges and I had thought to myself, hmmmm, why not try that with some of my ribbon? So I did and it looks really nice.

Beary Cute Picnic

Good Afternoon! Today's post is a card I made for someone sweet! Isn't this little girl just darling, having an afternoon picnic with her teddybear? I really love colouring images like this. My DD always loved her Teddy Bears and Stuffed Animals much more than Dolls. Quite often she could be found having "tea" with her stuffies, and her favourite Bear Brownie looked quite like the one in the image. Actually, the little girl looks exactly like my DD, braided hair and all!!

Sweetheart Treat Cups

Hi there! I've really enjoyed using the Sweetheart Stamp set along with the Heart Shaped Treat cups, these are so darned cute!!! I would have loved to have these stamps and accessories when my kids were little, all the fun things I could have made for birthday parties, goodie bags & holidays! Guess I'll have to wait for Grandchildren!! :)

This card features the Sweetheart Stamp set along with the Sweet Treat Cups. I used Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Old Olive Cardstocks, stamping the main image on Whisper White. The Sweet Treats sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Accessories used are the Scalloped Edge and Tab punch along with the 1/2 inch circle punch. The tab is actually a piece of cardstock that hold the treats in, allowing the recipient access from the inside of the card, so that they don't have to destroy anything to get to the goodies!! Butterfly Thank Yous

Good Morning!! I have a Butterfly Card to share today. This card uses the same scrap Ginger Blossom (retired)dsp as yesterday's along with Very Vanilla & Ruby Red cardstocks. I used Oval All for the sentiment, punched out with my oval punches, scalloped the edges of the designer paper border, ran a Butterfly die through the Big Shot and embossed it, then sanded the embossed area. I also used the Swirl die from SU! for a little added interest. The button in the center really does match the Groovy Guava in the dsp, somehow it looks more orange in this picture, but trust me, it really does coordinate!! :)

Vintage Vogue finally breaks out of the package!!

Good Afternoon! Well, today was a gloomy day in Alberta, looks like we are in for more Duck Weather, but I have to admit that's probably not a terrible thing as our land is SO dry. :)

Today's share uses very old Ginger Blossom Designer Paper and Ruby Red cardstock, which is soon to be retired. I will miss alot of these retiring colours but am very excited about the Colour Renovation. SU! has put alot of research into this Colour Renovation and I think they've done a great job reorganizing all the cardstocks into new families. I can hardly wait for the new catty as well!!! Ahem* , no I'm not addicted to any such craft, I just really enjoy collecting my supplies :)

This card is pretty simple in that I used leftover designer paper scraps, Ruby Red, Regal Rose & Very Vanilla cardstocks, nesties, the SAB set Whimsical Words (don't you just love this font!!) the SU! Swirl die, Big Shot and the oval punches. I also used Peach Flower Soft to fill in the centres of the flowers, although I'm not sure how well you can see it in the photo.

And....this is the first time I've inked up my Vintage Vogue set!! Yup, I've owned it for about a month now but finally got around to using it! I really like the new Unmounted Stamps from SU! as well, they worked great!

Well, enough chitter chatter here, my buzzer is ringing to put the homemade buns in the oven (haha, Susie Homemaker today!!) and give the soup a stir. I think we may go to the new Shrek Movie tonight, I'm soooo excited, I just love Puss 'N Boots!!

One more MDS Hybrid

Hi there! Today's card share is yet another Hybrid Card. This was created using the My Digital Studio program. I printed the main image and matted onto white cardstock that had been punched with the Scallop punch and then onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The Thank You is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, matted onto Regal Rose cardstock. The ribbon is SU!. Here's a tip for you!!!! Be very careful when using your Adhesive Eraser on anything you've printed (at home) using the MDS. I erased a small blob of snail in the right hand corner of my card and took off part of the Thank You that I had printed on there!! And that's why we thave the "Thank You" stamped along the bottom!! I probably should have let it "set" for a few minutes before I messed with it, but oh well, live and learn I guess!! We wouldn't learn anything new if we didn't make mistakes. At least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!! :)

MDS Hybrid Card

Hi there! Today I have a really fun card to share. I think this is called a hybrid card, but I'm not sure?!! Hybrid meaning a digital and traditional card combined. The background of the card was created on the My Digital Studio program and printed out onto cardstock. I then ran it through the Big Shot and the Lattice embossing folder. The flower was created with the Big Shot and the Blossom Party Die and the Island Floral die (new SU! mini).

I really enjoyed creating this card, but if I did it over I'd make the digital stamps on the background a little larger. My Digital Studio is sure alot of fun to use, although I really really wish I had a laptop because I would love to be able to sit and watch tv in the evening with my family and work on a project....maybe for Christmas I'll ask Santa for a laptop!! I'm sure they manufacture laptops at the North Pole?? :)

Flower Fun with the Big Shot and Heat Gun!!

Hi there! Today I am finally sharing the pictures of my fabric flowers!!! These are made using the Flower Die from SU! and a poly-nylon type fabric. Each flower is just graduated circles, cut and stacked, secured with a brad and then heated with your embossing gun!! Wow are they fun to make!!! I really heated these flowers and allowed them to "crumple" in towards the center, I really like how the turned out. The white flower is kind of cool, its a different fabric than the others and really heated to almost melting!

If only there were more hours in the day......

Edited to add: My pup Sophie got ahold of the green flower, see how its sort of wonky on the right side? So easy to fix though, just blast it again with the embossing/heat gun and voila!! fixed flower. Beware of doggies getting these flowers though, for some reason the scrunchy nylony fabric must feel good on their teeth because Sophie will actually sneak one off my table and go hide to chew it. She doesn't wreck them, she just enjoys "scrunching" them with her teeth. :)

Pinwheel Fun!

This card uses Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, 1 1/4 inch square punch and Crushed Curry polka dot grosgrain. This Crushed Curry is so pretty with the Melon Mambo, so summery and warm. I also used the Lattice Embossing Folder. Anyone notice that I kind of like this folder?!! :)

Motorcycle Madness!

Ha, no madness here really, just seemed like a zippy title!! :)

This card is another we did at our workshop last week. Just {heart} this gorgeous Lattice embossing folder. We did a cool, quick technique my upline recently taught us at our last meeting. Using Designer paper, run a piece (any size you like) through your Big Shot with any embossing folder of your choice.

Very carefully sand away the raised portion of the dsp and you will get a completely different look on your designer paper!! The reason you must use Designer paper is that it has a white core; part of what I love about SU! solid cardstock is that its dyed completely through, so even when you cut a piece there are no "white" edges showing. However, designer paper is created by printing onto white cardstock, and so when you sand away, you sand to the colour beneath the dsp, which is white.

Also, on this particular card I clear embossed the whole image, giving it a glassy look.

Flower Pin from Charm Squares

Hi there! One more post today!! This photo is of a flower pin I created for a friend of mine. I used leftover fabric from a Charm Square pack I bought several months ago at a craft show. I made a market bag for my Mother In Law for Christmas with the other charm squares and wish I had this SU! Flower Fold die then, I'd have been able to put this flower on the outside of the bag! Oh well, guess I'll have to make another bag. Or pin this on my lapel! This would look great on a jean jacket, don't you think?

Nouveau Chic meets Bird Punch!

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Our weather was fantastic ~ sunny and warm, a bit breezey, definitely flip flop and shorts weather!!

Today's card share is one we did at my latest workshop ~ don't you just love this bird punch??? I think its so versatile, as it suits both masculine and feminine cards. Also, this Lattice Embossing Folder is the BEST one yet!! It creates the most wonderful texture, really working the cardstock when it embosses, making it very detailed. Another folder that could be used on just about any type of occasion card.

We passed our Obedience Test!! whoo hoo!

This is Tucker, our 4 year old maleThis is Sophie, our 1 1/2 year old female.

Hi there! Just a quick hello to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth!! I've been busy spring cleaning and doing this and that, the days somehow seem to fly by. I had a workshop this past week with a couple of wonderful friends, I'll be sure to post the cards we did, they were fun and I think the ladies really liked them!!

Also, I wanted to mention that Sophie and I actually passed Obedience Class!!! Whoo Hoo for us!!!!! I really & truly didn't know if we were going to get that passing grade. The doggies have to do a one minute sit stay and a three minute down stay. There are 6 dogs, all lined up on the line, and they do this exercise together. If one breaks and gets up, several other tend to follow. That's where I was so worried about Sophie because she's quite a skittery little gal and if someone makes a quick move, she's up and jumps before she knows it!! But she did both of the exercises perfectly, I was so impressed. We also did well on our other testing and get this ~ our mark was 198 out of 200!!~ I was pretty surprised!! We work hard at our training but she's hit and miss some days. Or maybe I'm hit and miss some days!! Its definitely a "sport" that both handler and dog need to participate fully in!!

Thankfully, I can now groom her!! As I mentioned, she's so skittery she hates to be groomed and will hide away an entire afternoon after grooming, like we've been mean or something. I mean, its just a shaver for goodness sake, and some scissoring around the eyes & beard, but she's so scared of it all. So, I didn't dare groom her for fear of her being a little goofy for our test!! Her and Tucker, our male dog, love to romp in the grass and its showing on their coats right now. So, grooming is on the "to do list" for sure.

Our weather is finally cooperating and I dare think we may have spring!! May long weekend doesn't look promising for warmer weather but as long as their no "S" word, I'm sure we'll all be happy. Especially the campers!!

Masculine Birthday Wishes

Good Morning!! I have a masculine birthday card to share with you today. The Motorcycle stamp is from the latest SU! Mini Catalogue, I've got a link on the side bar if you'd like to take a look :-) The Happy Birthday is from an old SAB set.

The Designer paper I've used is Throughly Modern. This a great paper pack for all types of cards ~ its a fun colour combination that's easy to work with. I can hardly believe we are almost at the end of a catalogue year and alot of these designer papers will be retiring! Time seems to fly, especially in the crafting world!!

Today we are celebrating my DS's birthday, so I've been busy marinating steaks, (I've been using an awesome recipe for a teriyaki marinade,) as well as making Greek salad and a German chocolate birthday cake, with the most marvelous icing/spread with toasted pecans....mmm!!! I make all my cakes from scratch now and will never go back to a boxed cake mix again. The Devil's food cake mix that I've made is so incredibly yummy! Rich, chocolately, and sweet yet still has a slight bitter/coffee flavour to it as well. Can you tell at all that I'm sooooo looking foward to dinner!! :)

We are experiencing not very pleasant weather here today, its snowing and blowing. The snow is wet and heavy, I've already been out to shake the branches of our trees so they don't get too heavy and break. I feel bad for the trees, so many have buds just ready to burst but I'm sure they are now all confused about when to open!! We had gorgeous spring weather a few weeks back.....I guess that's Alberta for you. As they say, if you don't like the weather, just wait an hour and it'll change...:-)

Big Shot Pins!

Good Morning! Today I have a Big Shot project to share with you! I am having so much fun making these fabric pins with the Big Shot and the SU! Flower Fold Die. These are super easy to make and a whole lot of fun to put together. Although I'm a stamper I just love to sew, although I don't find as much time for myself in the sewing room as I should. I used to sew ALL my DD's clothing, even ski jackets. I used to sew alot for my boys as well but there came a time when they just didn't want Mom's creations, but rather the same brands as their friends :-) So sewing somehow went on the backburner.

But now, with this wonderful Big Shot I can use my stamping supplies in my sewing room as well. I can hardly wait to make some handbags and embellish with these flowers. The ideas are endless and its so fun to pick the fabric combinations. I also have a dress I'm wanting to sew and embellish with 3 cute little flowers at the top. My mind is racing with ideas, there's just not enough time in the day to make everything I want!!

I've made a whole bunch of the heated flower pins as well, but didn't get a great picture of them today so I'll be working on that. Be sure to check back soon, I'll post some more pins then. These heated fabric pins look especially pretty on the collar of a jacket, a hat or even an evening purse.

Another MDS Inspiration Page

Hi there! Today's share is another MDS inspiration page I made for my DD. This is the same picture as the post below, but in colour. I changed the song up to "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts, another of her favourites. One thing I have noticed when copying a song to a scrap page is that it certainly helps when you are familiar with the song itself!! It helps the words make more sense (how they go together) as a song isn't always written like a poem.

I loved the background on this photo, it was taken last year in April at Cavendish, PEI. It was gorgeous that day, unusually warm at +20 degrees C, but a bit windy. The ocean was still cold but the sun, the sky and the shore were amazing, I can only imagine how beautiful it would be on a summer day.

I've been super busy with my Big Shot making flower pins of all types and sizes. Wow, the ideas are endless!! I was going to photograph them last night but our son borrowed the camera so it will have to wait til later, as Sophie and I have obedience classes today.

Obedience is going well, although she's still very skittery when we get there. Sophie does all her commands near perfect at home (except the Down, we are still working on that!), but during class she finds all the other dogs so interesting, its hard for her to focus.

There's a Rottweiller there, he is the most beautiful Rotty I've ever seen but he barks and barks and barks at every dog. He even makes me crazy. (so we call him the Rotten-Weiller)!! The Pitbull cross named MoJo is pretty funny ~ he will not sit completely on the ground during sit-stay, he just hovers, his bum never hits the floor, its so funny!! A small dog recently joined our group and MoJo really likes the look of this dog, he's always got his eye on her and is licking his chops, makes me kind of nervous!! :-) Thank goodness there is a "no mingling" rule, as they don't want the dogs to think they are they to play (or eat!) but they want them to realize they are there to work and learn.

Most of the other dogs are Labs and one Shepherd, so Sophie, a 34 pound Standard Schnauzer, is actually the 2nd smallest dog there. Its alot of fun, but hard work and it requires dedication to your dog, as its really training yourself to train your dog. The dogs (and humans) are all doing quite well, its fun to see everyone's progress. So wish us luck, I think we do testing in 2 weeks!! Hopefully we get that Down command just right!!

Edited to add: I found out today that MoJo is actually an American Bull dog, not a Pit Bull, although his colouring really looked pit bull to me. He was still eyeing the little dog though!! Obedience went well, Sophie is feeling a little more relaxed and did great today. We have pretest next week, so this week I'll have to spend a fair bit of time on her training (or MY training! heehee)

Inspirational Page for DD

Good Morning! I've been working on a few MDS pages and wanted to share one with you today.

I took this picture of my DD on the beach at Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. If you look closely at her hand you'll see a couple of rocks she collected that are heart shaped :-)

The lyrics are from Paul Brandt's song Risk, typed onto the background area of the photo; this is one of her very favourite songs and she finds it quite inspirational. :-)

I didn't add a whole lot to this black and white page mostly because I liked the simplicity of it and wanted the picture and lyrics to speak for themselves. I will however be recreating this page in colour so I'll be sure to post the two together, just so you can see the difference. I happen to love black and white photos, and would probably scrap just about every picture I have this same way!!

ALSO: the photo box with DD is actually centered on the page, just so you know.......for some reason the box on blogger here doesn't quite take in the whole 12 x 12 page. :-)

Clean & Simple Fifth Avenue Floral?

Hello Hello!!! So, I have a question to ask: would you consider this card a Clean and Simple card? I'm not sure, as I did add beads to the centers of the flowers!! I also embossed the white background cardstock, although that was very simple!! I'm never sure about clean and simple, I have a hard time not wanting to add a bit of this and a bit of that!! I'm a dabbler. When I used to take decorative art painting classes Sandy used to have to tell me to put your brush down because I could never leave anything alone, I'd always want to just fix this or fix that. It took me awhile to learn to leave things alone!!(and I made a few mistakes along the way!!)

Fifth Avenue Floral

Good Morning! Today's card share uses my favourite floral stamp, Fifth Avenue Floral. I really love the line drawn images in this set, there's so much room for creativitiy!! I embossed the largest flower with white embossing powder onto Shimmery White cardstock. Then I spritzed with water and dropped a selection of reinkers into the pools of water, allowing them to travel where they wanted and fill in the spaces. It was alot of fun, especially if you are the type of person who enjoys dabbling in the artsy side of stamping!! I did a whole page of these flowers, all different colours! Was a great way to spend an afternoon :-)

A Little Late Easter Bunny

Hi there! I realized just this morning that I hadn't uploaded this Easter card! Somehow it was neglected andnever made it to my computer. The spring colours on this card are ever so beautiful today, seeing as how we've had a short blast of Winter blow back into our area. I don't mind seeing the white stuff this time of year, because you know it will disappear soon but I sure don't like the 90km an hour winds!

I did all my laundry and housework yesterday so today I'll throw something yummy in the crock pot and hide away in my craft room all day :-) The weather is great in there!

Now, you probably didn't come here to listen to me blather on about the weather so here's the details on the card!!

Vintage Christmas

Good Morning! Today I have a Christmas card to share. I found this image quite some time ago in a quaint little crafting shop and just had to have it. I love to use vintage images for my Christmas stamping. Stampin'Up! used to have a beautiful set very similar to this but its long retired. My upline actually owns it but will not sell it to me, if you can imagine that! Maybe someday she'll no longer want/need it?? If so, I'll be first in line....:)

This card was created with Saharra Sand, Rose Red, retired dsp from the Holiday mini, Very Vanilla and watercolour paper. Accessories are: MS border punch, oval dies, Big Shot, SU! daisy, half back pearls from the Pretties kit. I also used some white Flower Soft on her muff and pom pom on her hat, although I'm sure you can't see it in this pic. There's also some Dazzling Diamonds on there too, I just dabbed some glue on top of the Flower Soft and then sprinkled with DD.The card was sprayed with shimmer mist, tinted with a bit of Rose red, it looks just gorgeous in real life but very hard to capture in a photo.

Good Morning! I've had a busy few weeks recently and not alot of time in my stamp room. My DH had last week off and this week is my DD's spring break so needless to say my focus has been elsewhere :) I really need to find my stamping MoJo, its just not there lately. I think I create best when I have a little more "quiet time". :)

This card was made with the Cottage Wall dsp, I really love the colour combo in this dsp. But, I can hear you now, "what dsp don't you like Deb?" :)

The base is Razzleberry, and I've used Whisper White and Orchid Opulence to mat the main image. The stamp sets used are both retired, Branch Out & Love Ya Bunches. Accessories are: Razzleberry Polka Dot grosgrain (can you believe I only have about 6 inches left of this beautiful ribbon?!), Razzleberry coloured buttons from my stash, Old Olive Wide Striped Grosgrain and Flower Soft. My Wonderful Friend Melody and I found some of this last year at a craft show and couldn't believe how well it matched the Cottage Wall Dsp. Its just gorgeous!!

Today we are meeting my dear Aunt for lunch in the city. She's in her 70's now and actually keeps busier than I do! She's most impressive with her Book Club meetings, exercise class, (she's even done Hula dancing!!), and regular coffee with the "girls" on Mondays at the cafe near her condo. She still drives herself everywhere and regulary goes out to see her sister (who's 10 years older) every Sunday, a 1/2 hour drive from her home. My Aunt is the Queen of "no left turns" and I've learned well from her!! If there's a route that doesn't involve a left turn onto a busy street (without traffic control lights) well she knows it. I'm the same, I just stress sitting there waiting to turn out onto a busy street (like 149th Street, for anyone from Edmonton). So, we are off to the city for lunch, and will hopefully avoid all left turns that don't have traffic control! :)

Getting Closer to the end of that paper pack!!

Hi there! Well, we're definitely getting closer to the end of that paper pack. I would never have guessed I'd be making so many cards from half a package of dsp!!

I love this paper, its so elegant and summery, I sure will miss it when its completed.

This card uses several different pinks (ribbon, cardstock, half pearls) along with the Pale Plum (which took on a pinkish hue) and really liked them combined with the Bravo Burgundy & So Saffron.

Dots & Dashes ~ an oldie but a goodie!!

Hi there, I hope you're having a wonderful Friday!! Its a beautiful day here in Alberta although I do hesitate to get excited that Spring could actually be on its way!! It does feel like it though. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and it smells wonderfully clean out there. The snow is rapidly deteriorating as well; now we need a good rainfall to wash away the winter grime.

I thought we all needed a break from the Parisienne Summer designer paper creations! That being said, you can certainly expect a few more because just when I thought I had used the last scrap, I've found yet another 6 x 6 square!! I truly feel the need to complete this mission, so be sure to check back in the next few days, I'll have just a few more Parisienne cards to share!

Does anyone recognize this paper? I had to go waaay back into an old 2006 catalogue to even find the name of this Dots & Dashes dsp. It is from the days of "one sided" designer papers, and wow! have things changed since then. The paper seems very lightweight compared to the dsp's now. The other interesting element, with this collection anyway, is that none of these papers look really great together. To layer even two of them onto the same card is a bit much!!

I had alot of fun creating these fun cards, they're for my DD's stash of birthday/occasion cards for friends and teachers.

Simply Said Razzleberry

Hi there! I thought I'd give this colour combination a try, I think Razzleberry is such an interesting colour and I'm finding it works quite well with many of the permanent SU! colours.

The card was created with Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Lovely Lilac and Whisper White cardstocks. The white was run through the Big Shot with the Heart embossing folder, Nesties created the circles.

The stamp is from Simply Said set and the flowers were punched from two little flower punches I have in my bin. I'm not sure where they even came from :) The SU! Eyelet border punch created some interest and texture on the white cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds was used in the center of the flowers, the gorgeous ribbon is the Razzleberry grosgrain and the half back pearls are from my stash, and I do apologize, the middle one got knocked a bit when I was photographing and it seems to be off just a tad.
